Dennis Yablonsky, Secretary of Community and Economic Development

Secretary Dennis Yablonsky was unanimously confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate in 2003. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Yablonsky has 29 years of management and leadership experience. He was founding CEO of the Pittsburgh Digital Greenhouse, a revolutionary model for focused technology economic development. SEcretary Yablonsky leads the Rendell Administration's proactive efforts to revitalize Pennsylvania's economy by investing in growth. He played a lead role in the formation and implementation of the Governor's Economic Stimulus Package, which has invested $1.8 billion into Pennsylvania's infrastructure, core communities and job producing businesses.

Douglas Shields, President, City Council District 5

Doug Shields was elected President of City Council in September 2006. He is a city council veteran in his knowledge of issues and procedures. Prior to joining the late mayor Bob O'Connor's staff, Doug worked for two prestigious city law firms as a senior litigation paralegal, specializing in environment litigation and regulatory matters, as well as complex corporate/commercial litigation. AS Chairman of Council's 2000 Reappointment Committee, Doug skillfully guided the complex task of determining boundaries for the city's nine council district. Shields chaired and now sits on the Board of the Regional Development Funding Corporation, a $2 million+ non-profit revolving loan fund that serves small to mid-sized businesses in 17 Western Pennsylvania counties.

Dr. Ronald Peiffer, Deputy State Superintendent, Office of Academic Policy, Maryland State Department of Education

As Deputy State Superintendent for the Maryland State Department of Education, Dr. Pfeiffer provides leadership for the development and dissemination of policy related to State and federal education accountability initiatives, including the provisions of the federal Elementary and Secondary Education, No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Through his leadership, he advises and assists the State Superintendent of Schools in the creation and implementation of major strategic initiatives of the Department. Dr. Peiffer has devoted his entire life to education. goth as a teacher and administrator. His efforts have been recognized by many distinguished awards he has received throughout his career.

Susan Hockenberry, Executive Director of Local Government Academy

Local Government Academy (LGA) led by Susan Hockenberry, is an independent nonpartisan organization promoting excellence in local government. LGA offers training and technical assistance to elected and appointed officials, as well as citizens in southwestern Pennsylvania. Prior to assuming her duties at the Academy. Susan was the Director of Administration and Finance for the Township of O'Hara, a home rule municipality located in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh. She is a member of the International City Management association and the Government Finance Officers Association. Susan has been honored with the Distinguished Budget Award and Certificate of Excellence for Financial Reporting.
