Advocacy Through a number of active committees – in particular the Public Policy and Transportation committees – The Chamber advocates at the local, state, and federal levels on behalf of its members. The Chamber works closely with the U.S. Chamber, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry, and other chambers in the region on those advocacy efforts. Blair County Township/City Maps are available for purchase at The Chamber office. The map features a detailed map of the cities of Altoona and Hollidaysburg and also provides maps of surrounding townships. Chamber members receive a free map and can purchase additional maps at a discounted price. Bulk Mail Rates are offered to Chamber Members in good standing. Members can use The Chamber’s bulk mail permit number to significantly reduce the cost of postage for qualified mailings. Buy Here. Thrive Here. is the Chamber’s county-wide effort to encourage local purchasing of products and services. The program is directed to both businesses and consumers and strives to create greater awareness of the benefits of keeping dollars circulating through avenues of local commerce. Buy Here. Live Here. POWER Card encourages consumers to purchase products and services from Chamber members at discounted prices. Chamber members are encouraged to place a discount/offer on the card. POWER Cards are provided to all employees of Chamber-member businesses and are available, at no cost, at the Chamber office. No cost is associated with placing an offer. Certificates of Origin are provided free of charge for Chamber Members who export their products outside of the United States. ChamberChoice is a health insurance plan offered through the Chambers of Commerce Services Corporation. For more information regarding this plan, please call 800-377-3539. The Chamber’s energy program features discounted commercial and residential rates on electricity to Chamber-member businesses and their employees. Chamber Foundation is a 501 © (3) foundation created by The Chamber to offer tax advantages to businesses or individuals willing to make contributions to any of the educational programs currently operated or endorsed by The Chamber. Digital & Print Advertising Opportunities are available to Chamber members. Digital advertising is available in the Chamber’s weekly email newsletter and on the Chamber’s website. Numerous print advertising opportunities are also available. Discounted Rates are offered to all Chamber Members in good standing, and their employees, who choose to participate in educational and networking events held throughout the year. Job Board In an effort to help our Members grow and be successful, the Chamber launched a Job Board on which Members can post open positions completely free of charge. Mailing Labels assist Chamber Members in marketing their products and services. The Chamber provides the opportunity for members to purchase (at a reasonable cost) mailing labels of the businesses and organizations that comprise the Chamber Membership. Marketing Investments are available for Chamber Members to gain valuable exposure for their businesses. Affordable sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available for Chamber signature events and programs and provide members the opportunity to target market their business. Membership Directory is published annually and distributed throughout Central Pennsylvania and beyond. The directory includes information about the organization, a county profile and a Buyer’s Guide. Copies of the directory are available for sale at The Chamber office and are in every hotel room in Blair County to assist visitors in learning about the area and encourage them to patronize Chamber businesses. Copies are provided at no charge to Chamber Members. NETworks Digital News is the Chamber’s weekly email newsletter highlighting Chamber programs, events, advocacy issues and news that affects Blair County Businesses. Subscriptions are free to all Chamber Members. Past issues can be accessed here. Privilege Pages are inserts in the mailed issues of the Blair Business Mirror. This offers Chamber Members the opportunity to promote products, services or programs. Privilege Pages are a cost-effective way for members to target market their products and services. Ribbon Cuttings: Chamber Ribbon cuttings are available at no cost to Members. The chamber will work with the member to coordinate the event, which includes pre- and post-event publicity. Social Media is a high priority for the Chamber. The Chamber’s Facebook presence has allowed the organization to promote programs and events and to highlight the involvements and accomplishments of Chamber Members. |
