Job Description:
Court Administration seeks a judicial secretary who will work closely with various judges to perform administrative and secretarial duties, and to control the flow of court documents through multiple chambers. Essential duties include maintaining a calendar, scheduling court proceedings; taking and transcribing legal dictation, distributing as necessary; typing and proofreading opinions, court orders, and correspondence as assigned; preparing, routing, and filing confidential communications, including draft documents and working files; monitoring deadlines and briefing schedules; maintaining files; preparing requisitions, reports, travel arrangements; approving invoices; working with tipstaff and courtroom-dedicated sheriff deputies as needed and maintaining utmost confidentiality.
Job Requirements
Qualified candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED; at least six months' work experience in an office environment, with some experience working in a legal office or in the court system preferred; previous legal secretarial experience is preferred; demonstrated experience working with frequent interruptions and varied customers; strong customer service orientation and patient, professional demeanor; English proficiency; attention to detail and accuracy; comfort working independently; ability to understand legal terminology; and ability to achieve competency in OnBase, Common Pleas Case Management System (CPCMS), and MUNIS within 90 days of placement into the position if without all three at hire.
