Sustainable Blair CountyMission Statement
Our committee's purpose is to promote and evaluate sustainability within the community of Blair County. We will educate on sustainable practices and cast a vision for how social, environmental, and economical sustainability can be implemented in the workplace, in schools, and elsewhere, and what positive outcomes can result that will help preserve the future of our community. About Sustainable Blair County Sustainable Blair County is a Blair County Chamber program that assists the business community in finding ways to be more environmentally prudent while also helping them to benefit financially. The committee that oversees Sustainable Blair County offers a Sustainability Certification Program which encourages businesses to achieve certain levels of sustainable compliance. The committee likewise works with Blair County schools to help students at all levels to understand and appreciate sustainability. Sustainability Certification Survey Chamber-member businesses interested in assessing where they are from a sustainability standpoint will now have the opportunity to complete a Sustainability Certification Survey. Results will be compiled and businesses will be notified of the results within a two-month period. One of the other benefits of completing the survey is that the committee will then assign a certification level - gold, silver or bronze - which businesses can use for marketing purposes. Resource List Once areas of improvement are identified through the Sustainability Certification Survey, the committee would like to provide a Resource List to interested businesses to encourage them to attain a higher level of performance. If you are a Chamber member business and can provide expertise for any of the categories below, contact Joe Hurd at 814-943-8151 or [email protected]. There is no cost to be included on this list. Resource categories: • Energy Conservation and Management • Water Conservation and Management • Business Operations and Practices • Facilities • Waste Management • Products, Services and Purchasing |
